UK afro-swing force Kojo Funds signs global deal with Amuse
Independent music distribution and services company Amuse has announced a global artist partnership with Kojo Funds, one of the defining voices of British afro-swing.
Kojo Funds have played a pivotal role in shaping British afro-swing, a genre that has evolved from the UK underground into a global force over the past decade, while building a substantial international audience along the way.
The new deal will support Kojo Funds' upcoming EP, “Hello It’s Me Again”, providing funding and full-service strategic support while allowing him to continue releasing independently. The partnership will be led by Amuse's London-based artist marketing team under Stars Redmond, Senior Director of Artist Development & Marketing.
“Kojo Funds shapes the sound of UK afro-swing,” said Stars Redmond. “He has a clear creative identity, global audience and exciting new projects on the way. Our role is to give him the funding, strategy and specialist support he needs, while making sure he stays in control of his music and rights.”
“Afro Swing is such an important genre for the culture. The UK has always been on the frontline when it comes to merging genres and bridging the gap between two worlds musically. As big fans of Afro Swing and with the 10 year anniversary of Kojo Funds’ first releases contributing to the genre breaking through, we’re so excited to bring his new music to the world”, said Lazee Mawuli Kulego, Senior A&R at Amuse.
